E-LETTER – MARCH 2010
ST. STEPHENS MEMORIAL ANGLICAN CHURCH
Announcing our 60th Anniversary Project – The Veterans Memorial Gardens!!
St. Stephens is 60 years young in 2010, and Parish Council has voted unanimously to make the development of a garden in the area behind the church our project for the year. Recognizing that the number of Veterans left amongst us is shrinking, it was felt that we need to do something to honour those who started this parish, before they have all moved to life eternal. At present, all we have is a concept and the idea is to have this be a collaborative effort from the outset. Our Wardens, Marnie McEwen and Beth McKinlay are the contact people for thoughts, ideas, fundraising events, and most importantly volunteers. We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude on so many levels; let's do this project right, and make them proud!
Hey, can you believe this – at the end of February, we were within 200 dollars of budget on envelope offerings! Way to go, keep it going!!!
Busy, busy, busy month. If you get this by e-mail or pick it up March 7, there is still time to get in on the JAM tubing party at Boler Mountain. JAM also has a dance for Grade 8-12 students on March 26th and have many, many things in the works for the 30 Hour Famine. JAM is showing great support of St. Stephens.
March 13th from 10 to 3 is the Deanery of Wellington Communications Workshop. The latest technology, how to write for the newsletter, the bulletin, spoken word communication, tips for presentations and much more. A must for everyone who participates in worship! The best part is it is FREE, lunch included.
March 27th the Shades of Harmony Barbershop singers team with St. Stephens for a fundraising concert. There are posters throughout the building and announcements in the bulletin or contact Gloria Young for tickets.
